Taken from the
Telegraph in the UK. An aerial view of Nabiyotum Crater in Lake Turkana - the world's largest desert lake and the world's largest alkaline lake - in the Great Rift Valley in Kenya. Paleoanthropological excavations by Richard Leakey have shown that the evolution of mankind took place around this region. The lake, once connected to the Nile, harbors one of the last great Nile crocodile populations on earth and is home to more than 200 species of birds. Legendary tribes such as the Dassenech, Gabbra, Rendille, El Molo and Turkana live around the lake according to their ancient cultures and traditions.
